Well this is a bit of a deviation from the normal type of post here on Shirt Post. Today it is a skirt post. Many of you will be wondering what I could possibly know about skirts when this site is primarily dedicated to the proliferation of witty t shirts.

It seems to me that I might have ignored a larger responsibility to keep you informed on near fifty percent of your attire. I mean what good is it have the perfect shirt to wear if you haven't got a good choice for your lower half? Well, today you are in luck my friends.

Microsoft has released a new site, entitled Microsoft Hohm. At first glance it appears to be a fairly simple site, but after I spent over an hour entering data and viewing charts I'm here to report it is quite robust. You might even say useful

In a nutshell the site is a dedicate to trying to help you get statistics on your home energy use and leverage that information into real life saving that will allow you to become more energy efficient. So if you want to put it simply, Microsoft launched a website that has the potential to save you money.

When it comes down to brass tacks, Energy saving equates directly into cost savings. Do you know anyone in today's economy that could not go for some more money in the bank? I know I could. So I signed up on the website and began plugging in my data.

It asked me about the age of my house, it's size and shape, what
home appliances we own and how many doors and windows we have. The questions I knew the answers to I filled out, the ones I didn't know, I left with the default value. The process was not difficult, though it did take me about thirty minutes or so.

After that I asked me for my zip code and allowed me to select my utilities companies. Currently the utility companies in my area haven't signed up with the site yet. (It is still in the beta stage) Regardless it gave me the opportunity to put in my monthly cost for gas and electricity. After that I was directed back to the main page. From there I received a slew of good information.

Above is a snapshot from my session. It includes suggestions based on my reposes. The suggestions are for lowering my energy expenses. It gives me a rough cost of doing the work myself and how much that could effect my annual bill. The site also keeps me apprised of tax credits for certain actions. Like a federal tax credit for installing energy efficient appliances.

Overall I'm quite impressed with the amount of information here. Give the nature of beta I expect it only to improve. I definitely recommend the small investment of your time to check it out. I mean, who wouldn't want to save some green?

Insurance is a gamble. that is the point of insurance. You take a gamble that at some point in the future you are going to get in a situation where you will not be able to pay your bills, hence asking a company to cover your expense for you. The insurance company is also taking a gamble. They are gambling that someone is going to pay them more each month over the life of the policy than they would have to pay out when the customer submits a claim. So sometimes we win the sometimes the insurance company wins. All in all a pretty equal equation.

Same things with banks really. I mean I know some banks will make bad credit loans with collateral or even bad credit loans with no collateral. Somehow that risk is justified over an average of people. Even though some people might default, overall the banks make enough money to make the gamble worth while. Even in the case of bad credit personal loans with collateral. At least they have some property to help offset the cost.

Regardless I recall one time I won the gamble. It was when I bought an extended insurance warranty on my first pickup. After only three years with the car, it had a major issue. I took it to the dealership and it ended up costing nearly four thousand dollars to repair. Something to do with a transmission or something. I'm not really sure. I just remember thinking. I'm so glad I decided to take that gamble and get the insurance. It was all worth it right there.

So you have to ask yourself, do you feel lucky? Well do you?

Well Peter, quit your whining and get a truck bed cover. The one pictured above is ingenious. It rolls back and out of the way so it doesn't have to be stored and great at keeping nature out, or your cargo in. In addition to a great look and functional design these also come with a three year warranty covering defects in material or workmanship.

So, take back your space and cover up! What a great idea!
